Union “Farmers’ Parliament” (ZSA)

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

 Union “Farmers’ Parliament” (ZSA) was founded in 1999 as a non-governmental organization. Today, the organization has grown to 800 members representing farmers from all agricultural sectors in Latvia.ZSA is the most important agricultural lobbying organization in Latvia with long-standing, very successful and professional relations in the field of rural development both at national and EU level. ZSA is an active member of EU farmers organization COPA-COCEGA.

 

 ZSA provides policy dialogue between farming community and policy decision makers. The ZSA network of stakeholders includes various public, private and non-profit actors in the field of agriculture, including educational institutions in both secondary and higher education.The ZSA is active in various EU programmes. It ensures organization capacity to participate in the technologies, practices and materials testing and demonstration activities; involvement in policy development processes; organization of the information and educational activities for stakeholders as well as the dissemination of knowledge in Latvia and EU.

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

 The Farmers’ Parliament (ZSA) acts as an important link between research and practical agriculture as part of the “Agri-Biocircular-Hub” project. ZSA facilitates knowledge transfer and ensures that innovative circular economy practices reach Latvian farmers. It provides valuable practical insights and adapts project results to regional agricultural needs. ZSA actively supports regional pilot projects to maximize their benefits for local agriculture. Its expertise helps to spread sustainable agricultural practices and promote the principles of circular economy. Ultimately, ZSA strengthens the impact of the project by bridging the gap between theory and practical application.
