ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Lviv Communal Enterprise “Zelene MISTO” is a municipally owned company focused on integrated waste management and circular economy solutions in the city of Lviv. It plays a key role in operating and modernising municipal waste infrastructure, managing the collection and sorting of solid and organic waste, and introducing sustainable environmental practices at the city level.
The enterprise has launched Ukraine’s first integrated composting programme for organic and garden waste, contributing to significant reductions in landfill volumes and greenhouse gas emissions. LCE is also a co-organiser of the annual Eco Forum in Lviv, which brings together environmental experts, businesses, and policy-makers to discuss strategies for sustainable development and resource efficiency.

KEY STRENGTHS
Since 2020, Lviv has been operating the first and only integrated project in Ukraine for the separate collection of organic and gardening waste from residents and businesses, and its subsequent processing at the municipal composting station. The process of composting organic and garden waste to produce beneficial organic fertilizer for soils, rather than burning or disposing of it in landfills, is a great solution that improves soil microflora and increases soil fertility, thereby reducing pollution of the soil and atmosphere.

LCE “Zelene misto” is the organizer of the annual Eco Forum, which attracts a wide range of stakeholders.
The Forum is a space for dialogue among science, policy, business, and communities that shape the country’s environmental future. It addresses key directions for transforming sectors that impact the environment, preserving natural resources, and developing a sustainable economy. It’s a space for partnership-building, funding opportunities, and collaborative implementation of eco-safe solutions for Ukraine.
