KEY STRENGTHS
Our organization has extensive experience in international and national projects on sustainability, waste management, and environmental protection.
Since 2013, we have organized the annual National Forum «Waste Management in Ukraine: Legislation, Economics, Technology», which serves as a key platform for discussing and developing waste management solutions. The Forum brings together government representatives, experts, businesses, and civil society organizations to address critical challenges, share best practices, and propose policy recommendations.
As a result of the Forum’s discussions:
- Practical recommendations are developed for policymakers and businesses to improve waste management systems in line with European standards.
- Legislative proposals and amendments are formulated and submitted to relevant government institutions.
- Partnerships and collaborations are established between stakeholders, fostering the implementation of innovative waste management technologies and practices.
- Awareness is raised among businesses and communities about sustainable waste management and the circular economy.
The Forum plays a crucial role in shaping waste management policies in Ukraine, ensuring a systematic approach to addressing environmental challenges.
AUEL assessed the scale of food waste generation and accumulation, conducted a sociological survey and developed questionnaires for different sectors to investigate the causes and factors of the problem. Based on the study’s results, roundtables were held in Kyiv and Lviv, with participation from representatives of the government, business, NGOs, and academia.
AUEL translated and published the educational materials «Do Good: Save Food!» in Ukrainian, conducted introductory seminars, and created the platform «Share – Don’t Waste» to unite organizations and citizens in reducing food losses. The project also implemented the «Feed the Neighbor» initiative for direct food sharing and a pilot project aimed at cooperation, waste reduction, and model scaling.
Experts from the AUEL assessed the effectiveness of risk reduction measures in Ukrainian agriculture, specifically early warning systems and agrometeorological services.
