AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB Holds First Open Day at Lviv Polytechnic Science Festival
Open Day of the AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB project at the Science Festival, Lviv Polytechnic National University, 23 April 2026.
On 23 April 2026, the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Nature Management of Lviv Polytechnic National University organised the first Open Day of the AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB project, held as part of the university’s annual Science Festival. The event brought together students, schoolchildren, and members of the public on the Lviv Polytechnic campus for an introduction to the goals, activities, and results of the project.
The event was opened with a welcoming address by Iryna Yaremchuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Lviv Polytechnic National University, who underlined the university’s commitment to international research partnerships and the importance of public engagement in science communication. The Open Day was moderated by Nazariy Andrushchak, Head of the Project Office and Project Manager of AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB, with the participation of project coordinator Myroslav Malovanyy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Nature Management. International partners of the project also joined the proceedings.
The programme covered the core themes of the bio-circular economy in a format accessible to a general audience: the conversion of organic waste into energy and fertiliser, the relationship between soil health and food security, the regulatory and financial landscape for bio-circular investment in Europe, and Ukraine’s role in the broader European bio-circular transition. Particular attention was given to making the content meaningful for younger visitors, including secondary school students who may be encountering these concepts for the first time.
The Science Festival is one of Lviv Polytechnic’s flagship annual public events, regularly attracting hundreds of visitors from across the city and region. The presence of AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB at this event reflects the project’s approach to dissemination: not only reporting results to specialist audiences, but actively engaging students, communities, and the public in the ideas and practices that underpin the bio-circular transition.
AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB is funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe (Grant Agreement No. 101186869). The project connects research, innovation, and practice across Poland, Latvia, Ukraine, Belgium, and Spain to advance smart agriculture and circular bioeconomy in widening countries.
